Early Resolution
At times, disagreements may arise between families and schools regarding a student’s special education services. These may involve the development or implementation of the Individualized Education Program (IEP), the appropriateness of services, or other aspects of the educational plan. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) emphasizes collaboration and encourages families and school teams to work together as partners throughout the IEP process.
To support this collaborative approach, Early Resolution (ER) offers informal, voluntary methods for resolving disagreements. ER promotes open communication, mutual understanding, and problem-solving to help all families and schools reach outcomes that meet the student’s needs and strengthen family-school relationships.
SPEDTex supports the ER process by providing access to trained professionals who guide families and schools through constructive, solution-focused conversations. The goal is to help both families and schools move forward with greater clarity and shared commitment.
